Imagine sharing your own music on platforms like Spotify or YouTube and sounding as good as your idols – it's a literal dream come true, and I can help make that happen for you.
Experience and Passion:
Since 2012, I have collaborated with hundreds of artists, producing thousands of songs through the Dotted Eight Studio. Making music isn't just my job; it's my love and my life. I live for the joy of creating music and helping artists like you reach their full potential.
Understanding Your Vision:
I know that writing music consumes you. But it’s not just about writing it is it?, You music needs to be shared and have real people connect with it in order to complete the creative loop. But to make that connection beautiful, your music needs to sound exceptional.
Guidance and Support:
You may not know the ins and outs of the recording and production process. You might even worry that your musical vision won't be accurately represented, and I understand that. I will guide you through every single step. With my expertise as a producer, we'll take your music from where it is now, to a fully polished recording ready for professional release.
The Dotted Eight Studio Difference:
My studio is designed to inspire and nurture your creativity. It’s beautiful acoustics and creative ambiance will make you feel at home, igniting your musical passion. With over a decade of production experience, I know how to capture and enhance the essence of your performance. At Dotted Eight Studio, you'll feel relaxed, inspired, and on top of the world.

A great recording will elevate your professional presence online, opening doors to greater live show opportunities and help you showcase your talent to the world. No more dodging requests from friends to "record something." Instead, you can focus on realising your creative purpose and making a lasting impact through your music.
Let's embark on this musical journey together, and create something extraordinary.
Here's what's included in your package
Pre Production
To kick off the recording process, I like to bring you into the studio for an initial idea’s session. During this session, I'll place a couple of microphones, and capture raw performances of your songs.
This approach accomplishes several important objectives us:
a) Understanding your desired sound: It helps me gain a clear understanding of the sound you're aiming for. By listening to these initial performances, I can better plan the project in terms of microphone techniques, gear selection, and overall approach.
b) Refining the songs: It provides both of us an opportunity to listen back to the songs and make any necessary adjustments to the structure, tempo, or instrumentation before we move into the recording phase. This ensures that we are aligned and confident about the direction of the project.
c) Getting comfortable: This session allows us to break the ice, have meaningful discussions about your dreams and ideas, and get comfortable with the studio environment. Building a strong connection and understanding between us is crucial for a successful recording experience.
It typically takes around 2-3 hours to complete the entire pre-production process. And I like to get these sessions in a week or two before we begin recording.
Recording
Now, it's your time to shine IN the studio, pouring your heart and soul into your music while I carefully place some high-quality microphones to capture your memorable performance. During Pre Production we will have discussed the approach that best suits your sound and vision.
Option 1: Live Style Recording:
Some artists prefer a live-style setup where I capture the entire sound in one performance, with minimal overdubs, if necessary. This approach captures the energy and synergy of the moment, delivering an authentic and organic feel to your recordings. We'll strive for the perfect take that truly embodies your artistic expression.
Option 2: Multitrack Recording:
Alternatively, we can opt for a multitrack approach, capturing each musical element separately. This allows me to focus on the sound and space surrounding each instrument or vocal, creating a rich and detailed sonic landscape. By recording individual elements, we can fine-tune every aspect to achieve the best possible results for your music.
Regardless of the chosen approach, we'll ensure that we have multiple "good" takes to guarantee that we capture the performances needed to elevate your music. My goal is to achieve exceptional results that showcase your talent and passion.
Consecutive Recording Sessions:
To maximise the flow and creativity during the recording process, I highly recommend a consecutive bookings. This approach allows us to maintain momentum and artistic continuity. Over the years, I've found that splitting the recording process into separate sessions over weeks or months often diminishes the final result. The quote provided in this proposal is for a consecutive recording approach.
Sporadic Sessions:
If you require sporadic recording sessions due to specific circumstances or scheduling constraints, please note that they will be subject to a higher hourly rate. The consecutive recording approach offers the best value and efficiency for achieving the highest quality results.
Editing
One of the unsung heroes of a great-sounding recording is exceptional editing. I take pride in making the necessary adjustments required to ensure your music sits perfectly in the pocket and remains on point. While nothing beats capturing a quality take during the recording process, spending time to get those takes right! Editing plays a crucial role in refining the final product.
During the editing phase, I meticulously listen through each take, carefully selecting the best and most musical parts to incorporate into the mix. I also address any timing or pitch adjustments necessary to achieve a polished result. There's an art to making edits sound "human," and it's an art that I thoroughly enjoy. I have dedicated countless hours honing my skills in this area to ensure that your music retains its organic essence.
It's worth noting that the better the performance captured during the recording phase, the less extensive editing is typically required. A strong performance translates to a more natural and authentic sound. However, in cases where additional editing is necessary to achieve the desired final result, we will discuss these specific needs discuss the cost of additional editing requirements.
Mixing
Once the recording and editing stages are complete, it's time to bring your music to life through the art of mixing. Mixing is where all the individual elements of your song—vocals, instruments, and effects—are skilfully blended together to create a cohesive and balanced sonic experience.
With a keen ear for detail and a deep understanding of audio engineering, I will meticulously sculpt the sound of each track, ensuring clarity, depth, and impact. During the mixing process, I employ a range of techniques, including EQ, compression, reverb, and automation, to enhance the tonal balance, dynamics, and spatial placement of each element.
I value open communication and collaboration, your feedback and input are essential in crafting a mix that aligns with your artistic vision. After my initial balance, we will fine-tune the mix together, making adjustments until we achieve a sound that surpasses your expectations (more on the revision process in a bit).
Rest assured, I will work closely with you to ensure that your music retains its unique character and captures the emotions and energy you intended.
Mix Revisions
I understand the importance of refining the mix until it reaches its full potential. To ensure your satisfaction, I offer a structured 3 step mix revision process that allows for comprehensive feedback and fine-tuning.
Demo Mix: The initial mix I provide will serve as a demo mix, representing the foundation of your song. This mix will be approximately 80% complete, focusing on the broad strokes such as tonal balance, energy, and overall vibe. I encourage you to thoroughly listen to this mix and provide detailed revision notes, highlighting any areas of overall feel that need be improved or adjusted.
Mix 1: Based on your feedback, I will address each point to refine the the overall tone, and then begin working on the finer details of the mix, such as levels, panning, specific reverb amounts, and effects. Once the detailed refinements have been made, I will send you 'Mix 1' to review. Take the time to listen to this mix attentively, making specific revision notes on any areas that require additional adjustments or fine-tuning.
Mix 2: Using your feedback from Mix 1, I will make the necessary adjustments to bring the mix even closer to your vision, and send this revised 'Mix 2'. By now you should only need to make very tiny adjustments before your song in complete, this will serve as the final round of revisions, I will then make the required adjustments to create Mix 3, which will go on to Mastering.
By following this structured mix revision process, I aim to deliver a final mix that surpasses your expectations and captures the essence of your music.
Mastering
I tend to mix with the master in mind, making mix decisions based off what I know I'll add during the mastering stage.
Mastering seems to be the elusive dark art that no one understands.
Here's the most simple explanation I could find;
"Mastering is the final step of audio post-production.
The purpose of mastering is to balance sonic elements of a stereo mix and optimize playback across all systems and media formats. Traditionally, mastering is done using tools like equalization, compression, limiting and stereo enhancement.
There are several considerations in this process: unifying the sound of a record, maintaining consistency across an album, and preparing for distribution."
When I master, I master to your specific genre of music, there are a few key techniques that I use to ensure that the clarity of the mix is upheld,
while creating a full-bodied and competitively levelled master.
These services aren't included in your package (but can be added)
Songwriting Assistance
At times, your music may be 80% of the way there, but that last 20% can elevate the track beyond your wildest imagination. This final touch often comes in the form of arrangement adjustments, additional instrumentation, and creative enhancements such as vocal harmonies, beats, or riffs, but can also include assistance with Melody, and Chords.
This service is particularly valuable for singer-songwriters who may not have collaborated with other musicians during the writing phase.
I genuinely love songwriting, and I will help refine your compositions by working on arrangements, moving verses or choruses, adding or removing bridges and instrumentals, and suggesting adjustments to chord structures. Together, we can bring your songs to their fullest potential.
Songwriting Royalties:
It's important to address the topic of songwriting royalties to ensure transparency and clarity in our collaboration. As part of our partnership, we can discuss the fair distribution of songwriting royalties for any original compositions we work on together. This will ensure that all contributors are appropriately credited and compensated for their creative contributions. We value fairness and open communication when it comes to sharing the success of our collaborative efforts.
Arrangements
Arrangements are where all the additional parts to your song come to life. Whether your song requires drums or percussion, piano or synths, guitars, bass, or additional vocal parts, I will ensure that these elements are expertly written and recorded to enhance your music.
Creating the right arrangements is crucial to making your song sound like the chart-topping tracks you hear on platforms like Spotify. Many artists get stuck in this aspect because they may not know how to write and record all these extra parts or have access to musicians who can assist them. As part of your recording experience with Dotted Eight, I offer my skills to play these parts myself or source the right session musicians to ensure your song's arrangements are crafted with precision.
During the pre-production phase, we have already discussed and put into motion your vision for the song. The arrangements we create align closely with your creative direction, ensuring there are no surprises along the way—only moments that will blow you away.

Complete Songwriting Package
Not every artist is a competent songwriter, and that's absolutely fine! I offer this unique service where I write songs from scratch for artists.
If you have themes, ideas, or emotions that you've been pondering or feeling, I can take those concepts and create an original song that captures their essence, and suits your voice and style. (this is all discovered during our pre production session)
.
For this option, I excel in non-collaborative songwriting. I prefer to handle the creative process, develop the ideas, melodies, chords, and lyrics (based on your direction) taking my time to craft the song before collaborating with you. Once I've completed the initial creation, we can then come together and discuss any adjustments or refinements that will align the song even more closely with your vision.
From there we move forward recording and producing your new song.
Songwriting Royalties:
It's important to address the topic of songwriting royalties to ensure transparency and clarity in our collaboration. As part of our partnership, we can discuss the fair distribution of songwriting royalties for any original compositions we work on together. Additional Requirements
Your project has been quoted for the services included in the "What You Get" section of this proposal. However, I understand that every project is unique, and there may be additional services or requirements that you feel would benefit your music and enhance the overall quality of your project.
If you believe that any of the services listed in the "What's Not Included" section of this proposal would be valuable additions to your project and contribute to the overall success of your music, please let me know. I will be happy to discuss these services with you in detail and provide a revised quote specifically tailored to your requirements.
Throughout the duration of your project, the studio may proactively suggest additional services via email if it appears that they would enhance the quality and impact of your music. These services will be presented to you with complete transparency and accompanied by a revised quote if you express interest in incorporating them into your project.
Please feel free to communicate your needs and preferences at any point during the project, and I will do my best to accommodate them and ensure your satisfaction with the final result, but I can not tack these additional services onto this current project quote.
Production Royalties
The production elements created by the studio have the potential to generate mechanical royalties. As a standard practice, the studio retains a base rate of 10% of these royalties. However, I understand that each project is unique, and the level of creative input provided by the studio may vary. Therefore, the specific arrangement regarding mechanical royalties will be discussed and determined based on the details of your project.
If you prefer that the studio does not receive a share of the mechanical royalties, please let me know, and we can explore an alternative arrangement. In such cases, a higher initial recording cost can be agreed upon, ensuring that the studio does not participate in the royalty earnings.
In addition to mechanical royalties, it's important to address the aspect of songwriting royalties. Depending on the extent of songwriting contributions from both parties involved, a fair and equitable songwriting split may need to be agreed upon. As the artist, you will have an opportunity to discuss and determine the songwriting split in collaboration with Craig Honeysett.
In both cases, contracts will be drawn up by the studio and signed upon completion of your project.
I am committed to open and transparent communication throughout the process, and I welcome any discussions or questions you may have regarding royalties or any other aspect of the project. Together, we will find the best solution that aligns with your goals and ensures a successful collaboration.
